EXPLORING THE PAST TO SHAPE THE FUTURE
The common phrase 鈥淭he best way to understand the present is to study the past鈥 is the reason why students are drawn to study history at C-SC. Few majors can offer the breadth and depth of knowledge as the study of history. In addition to knowledge, a history major prepares you well for any career that involves communication skills, analysis and creativity. It鈥檚 no surprise that many employers recruit and hire history majors.
The C-SC Difference
With more travel study programs than any other department, the history faculty have led and will continue to lead travel study programs to Turkey, Vietnam, Guatemala, Peru, Austria, Russia, and Finland. Simulation and role-playing games are regularly used in many courses including Athenian Democracy, The American Civil War, Henry VIII, Women’s Rights, and The Crusades. You will be immersed in hands-on learning by sifting through the college archives, studying old documents and artifacts, learning about honor codes through fencing, and helping to preserve C-SC history through an ongoing video documentary project. There鈥檚 no better place to study history than on a historic campus with a rich and storied history of its very own.
