C-SC Promotions

Those faculty members receiving promotion during the 2022-2023 academic year are Dr. Jay Hoffman,聽Professor; Mr.David Lane, Senior Lecturer; and Dr. Angel Knoverek, Associate Professor, who was also聽granted tenure.

鈥淚t is always a privilege to recognize faculty members who exemplify academic excellence,鈥 said Provost聽Dr. Lauren Schellenberger. 鈥淭he decision to award promotion is the result of extensive reviews by faculty聽colleagues, the President, and the Board of Trustees, and each of this year鈥檚 awardees are very聽deserving.鈥

Hoffman joined the college in 2008 as an assistant professor of athletic training. After several years as聽the athletic training program director and assistant professor of health and movement science at聽Graceland University in Iowa, he returned to C-SC in 2015. Since then, he has served on 鈥渢he Hill鈥 as聽associate dean of Graduate and Professional Studies and program director and chair of the Athletic聽Training and Health Sciences program. Hoffman received a promotion to Professor. He earned his聽Bachelor of Science in physical education from Cornell College in Iowa; a Master of Science in physical聽education, recreation, and dance from Illinois State University; and a Doctor of Health Science degree聽from Nova Southeastern University in Florida.聽Lane has led the C-SC Theatre Department since 2018. Prior to his recent promotion to senior lecturer,聽he served as a lecturer of speech and theatre education. He is also responsible for directing two theatre聽productions each year and sponsors the theater club. He actively serves on several C-SC committees and聽is the recipient of numerous theatre awards. He is a volunteer in various community theater outlets. He聽earned his Bachelor of Arts in accounting from the University of Iowa and a Master of Arts in theatre聽education from Fontbonne University in St. Louis.

Knoverek 鈥93 has served in the role of assistant professor in the Psychology Department at C-SC since聽2017. She earned tenure and a promotion to Associate Professor. She is a licensed clinical professional聽counselor in the state of Illinois and is an approved clinical supervisor. Knoverek has extensive experience聽in both academic and field settings. She owns and operates Mindshift Center in Quincy, Illinois, a private聽counseling practice as well as a training and consultation business for professionals. She is a frequent聽presenter and has been featured in several professional publications. As a dual major, Knoverek earned a聽Bachelor of Science in English and a Bachelor of Science in psychology from C-SC, a Master of Science in聽clinical psychology from Benedictine University in Lisle, Illinois, and a doctorate in philosophy, counselor聽education, and supervision from Regent University, Virginia Beach, Virginia.
