CANTON, Mo. — Andrea Hoffman, a senior from Canton, recently was named the recipient of a $1,000 scholarship from the Missouri Society of Certified Public Accountants, the most comprehensive professional development organization for CPAs in Missouri.

Hoffman, who is majoring in accounting, finance and marketing, serves as president of the Institute of Management Accountants student chapter at C-SC. She also is the secretary-treasurer of the IMA professional chapter in Quincy, Ill. She is the treasurer of her sorority, the Mu Gamma chapter of Chi Omega, while working a part-time job and achieving a 3.87 grade-point average. She was named in December as the recipient of the Student Cameron & McLeod Memorial Scholarship, which recognizes an outstanding student member of the Institute of Management Accountants.

Hoffman is pursuing her master of business administration degree through Culver-Stockton’s 3+2 MBA program, which allows undergraduate students to matriculate in the MBA program during the senior year. Hoffman will complete her MBA with an accounting specialization in May 2021.

She will be recognized at an awards celebration on either Nov. 12 at River City Casino in St. Louis or Nov. 19 at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City.

According to its website, the Missouri Society of Certified Public Accountants represents more than 8,000 members in public practice, industry, government, and education.

CANTON, Mo. — The Mu Gamma chapter at ÂÒÂ×ÉçÇø recently received a Chapter of Excellence Award from Chi Omega, the largest women’s fraternal organization in the world. It is the second year in a row for Mu Gamma to receive that honor. Sixty-three out of the 181 Chi Omega chapters across the country received this recognition.

Mu Gamma maintained an 87 percent or higher average on a performance scorecard throughout the past year. The chapter is scored on six topics — retention, recruitment, chapter operations, programming, scholarship and leadership.

Mu Gamma has 65 members in its chapter. Kailee Gaither, a senior from Canton, Mo., is the chapter president.

Chapter advisors on the Culver-Stockton faculty and staff are Carla Boren, director of advancement for award and leadership giving; Missy Dubuque, director of alumni programs; and Dell Ann Janney, associate dean for experiential education and external relations and professor of accounting. Other alumnae advisors are Chelsea Hoffman, Stephanie Kelly, Jamie McKinnon, Chevie Lay, Emma Baker and Rachel Cramsey.
