鈥淲e are excited to welcome these new faculty members who will bring their insights and expertise in their respective fields to the Culver-Stockton classrooms,鈥 Gaither said. 鈥淲e are continuously seeking the very best in academics for our students to uphold our mission and promise to set forth the next generation of leaders. These exceptional faculty members will help us achieve that.鈥

New faculty members in the Applied Liberal Arts & Sciences (ALAS) Division are:

  • Alexander Benedict, assistant professor of biology

  • Lacy Chapel, assistant professor of health sciences and athletic training

  • Alexis Kubiak, lecturer of counselor education

  • Robert Mevissen, assistant professor of history

  • Chelsey Morrow, assistant professor of mathematics

In addition to the new instructors, C-SC has recently announced exciting program additions for the start of the upcoming academic year, including a new minor in athletic coaching and a partnership with Hannibal Regional Healthcare System for a nursing education program.

During the first eight days on campus, students met their living and learning communities, completed matriculation, participated in service learning, enjoyed many student life activities, attended their first all-college convocation, and completed their first week of courses. President Lauren Schellenberger聽said the campus was buzzing with excitement, 鈥溌衣咨缜 continues to be the premier place for students of promise to receive an excellent education, and we are proud to welcome this class to 鈥榯he Hill.鈥 As the number one college in Missouri for getting a job after graduation, we are proud they trust us to provide the experiences and education needed for their future success.鈥

Director of Admission Eric Kniel said several factors contributed to the 7.55% increase in new undergraduate enrollment, including the ability for admission counselors to travel, strengthened relationships with area high schools, alumni and legacy relations, and an increase in transfer students from nearby schools.

This program will combine the educational expertise of Culver Stockton College and the clinical learning opportunities of Hannibal Regional to create an innovative program for new or advancing nurses to further their education. Investing in further development of our healthcare workforce, specifically in nursing, is incumbent to the success and quality of life for our region. This program is in the creation and development stage and will enroll its first students following a determination of the accreditation timeline.

The post C-SC names Interim Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs first appeared on 乱伦社区.]]> 乱伦社区 (C-SC), a private Christian liberal arts college offering 80 major and minor tracks, announced today that Dr. Kimberly Gaither will be the interim vice president of academic affairs. Gaither will replace Dr. Lauren Schellenberger, who accepted the position of president at C-SC, both beginning their new roles on July 1, 2023.

Previously serving as the Vice President of Enrollment Management, Gaither provided oversight for all recruitment and retention-based services, as well as marketing and financial aid. A valuable asset to the college, she has helped lead the institution in various roles for more than twenty years, serving in administrative roles and also as a long-time faculty member.聽 Gaither is also active with the Higher Learning Commission, having served as a peer reviewer for many other colleges and universities since 2018.聽 Gaither said she is honored to serve in this role as the college seeks its new Provost and VPAA, 鈥淎s an alumnus, I owe a lot to 乱伦社区, and I am honored to assist the College in this way as we navigate this exciting transition on 鈥榯he Hill.鈥欌

President-elect Schellenberger said the college will begin a national search for its next academic leader in the fall but is confident of Gaither鈥檚 ability to 鈥渟ustain Culver-Stockton鈥檚 growth trajectory.鈥 She said, 鈥淜im is well-known for her administrative leadership on campus, her academic accomplishments, and her understanding of higher education in a global sense. With Kim鈥檚 leadership in academic affairs, we will continue to grow our programs and strengthen our offerings during this interim period.鈥

Gaither graduated from C-SC with a bachelor of science in business administration and finance before completing her MBA at Western Illinois University. She earned her Ph.D. in Business Administration from North Central University and specializes in financial management. A Canton native, she has been employed at Culver-Stockton since 2003.

These individuals have been recognized for completing academic rigor and mastering knowledge throughout the semester by being named to three lists of distinction.

Each semester at C-SC, students enrolled in at least 12 credit hours who have earned a minimum of 3.2-grade point average are celebrated for their academic success. Courses offered on a satisfactory/unsatisfactory or pass/fail basis do not count toward graded credit for including this recognition.

The President鈥檚 List is the most prestigious ranking for academic achievement, where 131 students earned a 4.0 GPA for the spring 2023 semester. The largest group of students recognized was the Provost鈥檚 List, with 160 students earning the Provost鈥檚 List Recognition, earning between 3.5 and 3.99 GPA during the spring 2023 semester. The Honor Roll List recognized 89 students who completed the spring semester with a 3.2 to 3.49 GPA. 乱伦社区 has released a complete list of names by recognition type, available for viewing at culver.edu.

The post Lauren B. Schellenberger named next leader of 乱伦社区 first appeared on 乱伦社区.]]> 乱伦社区 (C-SC) Board of Trustee members unanimously approved Lauren B. Schellenberger, Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs, to become the 28th president of 乱伦社区 on July 1, 2023.

鈥溌衣咨缜 is a place where students of promise experience transformational growth through a distinctive curriculum and outstanding opportunities for student leadership and engagement.聽 This institution has changed students鈥 lives for the better for the past 170 years, and it is my honor to lead the College as we further our mission,鈥 Schellenberger says.

Chair Ron Leftwich 鈥64 and聽 the board of trustees announced, 鈥淲e are proud to elect Dr. Schellenberger to the role of president.鈥 Leftwich said, 鈥淒r. Schellenberger has displayed exceptional leadership and academic knowledge in her fifteen years with the College and has shown she will be the next great president of C-SC.鈥

Schellenberger began her career at C-SC as an Assistant Professor of Biology while completing her Ph.D. in Biology Education at Purdue University; she has extensive experience in research, teaching, and industry. Administratively, Schellenberger has served the College in executive leadership roles since 2018 and most recently as a chief academic officer in the position of provost. A natural leader, Schellenberger has served on and chaired countless committees since joining C-SC.

H.B. Turner 鈥79, incoming board chair, said, 鈥淎s we celebrate the 170th year of Culver-Stockton, we look forward to Dr. Schellenberger leading our college into the future. Her in-depth knowledge of Culver-Stockton gives her a head start in developing plans for success.鈥

Schellenberger will succeed Douglas B. Palmer, who served as C-SC鈥檚 27th president from July 2020-June 2023. Palmer announced in March he accepted the presidency at Siena Heights University in Adrian, Michigan.

Schellenberger and her husband, Steven, reside in Canton, along with their two sons.

The college will hold a press conference on Thursday, June 1, at 10:00 a.m. in the Johnson-Turner IDEA Center, where Schellenberger will provide remarks and respond to questions pertaining to the presidency. A formal inauguration will be planned for a later date.

鈥淎s the first institution west of the Mississippi River to be chartered for co-education, C-SC has been an innovator in higher education since the very beginning,鈥 Schellenberger said. 鈥淚 am proud to lead this forward-thinking campus community, whose focus on transferable skills and experiential learning make our graduates uniquely and supremely prepared for a dynamic world.鈥

The post C-SC Marketing Team Earns Gold and Silver Awards first appeared on 乱伦社区.]]> C-SC submitted entries to Collegiate Advertising Awards (CAA) and was awarded the Gold Award in the recruitment category for their 鈥淛unior Fidget Mailer.鈥 and a Silver Award in the Student Viewbook-Printed category for their 鈥淏oldness Begins Here鈥 piece. For both categories, C-SC competed in the group representing colleges or universities with 1,000 students or less. Entries were judged by a panel of design and higher education marketing professionals; content is scored on creativity, layout/design, typography, production, quality, and overall effectiveness. The 38th Annual Educational (EDU) Advertising Awards announced winners this week, which included a Silver Award for 乱伦社区. Their piece 鈥淛unior Fidget Mailer鈥 competed in the Direct Mail category and was one of 271 silver awards presented. The EDU Awards are the largest advertising awards in the country and included over 2,000 entries this year. Judges comprised a national panel of higher education marketers, advertising creative directors, and marketing and advertising professionals. A complete list of winners can be found at

Both award-winning pieces were designed for college admission and recruitment purposes, and the team said these pieces were rewarding to create. 鈥淲e work very closely with the admissions office, and it is our goal for the tangible pieces to represent the hands-on learning experience that takes place every day at 乱伦社区,鈥 Alyssa Hummel, Director of Communications and Marketing, said. 鈥淲e are incredibly proud of these awards because they represent a team approach to marketing collateral that is created in-house. The marketing team at C-SC is led by Alyssa Hummel, with creative design provided by Cheyenne Blackorby 鈥17, Senior Multimedia Designer, and Jayla Heindselman, Graphic Designer. Dr. Kim Gaither, Vice President of Enrollment Management, oversees the staff.
