The Gallery will feature a multi-faceted artist’s unique and diverse art installation. Professor Yakle has the ability to use a vast array of tools and techniques to create fun and thought-provoking life-size people. She welds, cuts, glues, and manipulates forms that evolve into surprising results. Students will be shocked and amazed by the possibilities!

The gallery opening is free and open to the public; the exhibition will be available from February 28 through March 31 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on weekdays and by appointment. Faculty, staff and students can view the gallery in person if they wear masks and are properly socially distanced. Gallery hours are from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Monday through Friday and by appointment. C-SC is beginning the fall semester in Phase 1 of its Return to Campus plan, during which visitors are not allowed on campus. However, the gallery can be viewed online at聽聽after Sept. 3.

Dunnagan, an assistant professor of art in painting at Truman State University in Kirksville, Mo., investigates the permeable line between this world and what may lie beyond in her gallery. It is rooted in her experiences with her grandmother, who battled Alzheimer鈥檚 for the last 10 years of her life. Dunnagan experiments in much of this work with natural dyes by boiling vegetation such as raspberries and cabbage, a technique she learned while serving in Morocco as a small business development volunteer with the U.S. Peace Corps from 2007 to 2009.

Dunnagan is a three-time finalist for the Hunting Art Prize, awarded annually to a Texas artist for excellence in drawing and painting. Her work has been shown nationally in solo and juried exhibitions and was published in the 120 West edition of New American Paintings.

Born in Anchorage, Alaska, Dunnagan鈥檚 creative pursuits are grounded in her Alaskan upbringing. She spent summers hiking mountains, biking the coastal trail, fishing the Russian River and camping at bluegrass festivals.

She earned a bachelor鈥檚 degree in environmental design in architecture from Texas A&M in 2007, a master of fine arts degree in painting and drawing from Texas Woman鈥檚 University in 2014, and a master of arts degree in art history from Texas Woman鈥檚 University in 2015.

Joe Jorgensen, professor of art, will display photography and ceramics. Sally Kintz, visiting assistant professor in graphic design, will exhibit her award-winning paintings. Pastels, paintings and mixed media work will be shown by Debra K. Scoggin/Myers, senior lecturer in art and chair of the art and design department.

Sculptures and prints will be on display by Kent Miller, professor of theater arts and technical director emeritus. Adjunct instructor Peggy Ballard will show her mixed media work, and adjunct professor Carol Clay Mann will display her fiber work.

The reception will include an artist talk at 6:30 p.m. Gallery hours are from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday and by appointment. The exhibit is free and open to the public.

Showcasing graphic design work will be Megan Ferry from Kansas City, Mo.; Brock Hirn from Elmira, N.Y.; Kerri MaGraw from Union, Mo.; and Devyn Winters from LaGrange, Mo. All of them are art and graphic design majors.

Jordan Graves, an art education major from Springfield, Ill., will be showing oil paintings and pastel study drawings. Nevin McNally, an art major from Quincy, Ill., will be showing oil paintings. Analiese Meany, an art education major from Ewing, Mo., will be showing contour pen and watercolor drawings.

Christopher Peters, an art major from Saint Peter, Mo., will be showing Illustration drawings. Mary Phillips, an art major from Maywood, Mo., will be showing photography. Taylor Pitford, an art education major from Keokuk, Iowa, will be showing pen and watercolor drawings. Tyler Riley, an art major from Troy, Mo., will be showing ceramics.

Brauer, who lives in Granite City, Ill., is known for his work in figure, interiors and plein air landscapes. He has shown his work both nationally and overseas. He splits his time between studio work, workshops and plein air events. His work is a mix of the abstract and representational, bringing an impressionistic use of paint and materials to create images that challenge the viewer with new perspectives on the landscape genre.

An opening reception is scheduled from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 2, with an artist talk beginning at 6:30 p.m. Gallery hours are from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Monday through Friday and by appointment. Exhibits are free and open to the public.

Scoggin/Myers was recognized for her piece, 鈥淩eflections of a Dog Owner.鈥� Pat Kern, a former adjunct instructor at C-SC, received second place for her piece, 鈥淏anjo Man.鈥� Both pieces were accepted into the Missouri 50 competition, the 28^th聽annual juried professional fine art exhibit at the Missouri State Fair in Sedalia, Mo.

Both artists exhibit their work in the Alliance Art Gallery in Hannibal and Art House in Fulton. Scoggin/Myers also has been selected to be a part of the juried exhibition “On the Surface, On the Ramp” at the St. Louis Artists鈥� Guild from Sept. 20 to Oct. 23, and she will be the featured artist, along with alumna Amanda Brown 鈥�18, at the Alliance Art Gallery from 5-8 p.m. on Sept. 14.

Bigger is an assistant professor of art at Truman State University in Kirksville, Mo. She previously taught at the University of Nevada-Reno and Augsburg College in Minneapolis, Minn. Originally from Boulder, Colo., Bigger received her bachelor鈥檚 degree in studio art and hispanic studies from Colorado College in 2008 and her master鈥檚 degree in printmaking from the University of Minnesota in 2013. She has exhibited her work nationally.

Bigger says her work explores the relationships that exist among humans, animals and ecosystems, particularly in terms of the food chain, raw materials, and the human tendency to exert control over natural systems.

Gallery hours are Monday through from Friday 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., with other times available by appointment.
