鈥淲e are thrilled to have so many new students joining us on campus this fall,鈥� said Dr. Lauren Schellenberger, vice president for academic affairs and dean of the College. 鈥淲e also know that our returning students are incredibly happy to be back home on 鈥榯he Hill,鈥� and we have been excited to welcome them back. We are focused on continuing to provide a safe and healthy learning and living environment during these disruptive times, and our enrollment numbers show that we are succeeding.鈥�

Total enrollment at Culver-Stockton is 1,003 students. It marks the sixth consecutive year that the total enrollment has topped more than 1,000 students. Total enrollment consists of full-time students (857) and part-time students 鈥� high school students taking dual credit courses, online students and graduate students.

This year鈥檚 incoming freshman class of 251 students marks the seventh consecutive year that number has been larger than 250.

All enrollment figures were taken on Aug. 28, the census date for the College. The census date is a day set by the college that typically marks the end of the add/drop period. On this day, the College takes a 鈥渟napshot鈥� of all students鈥� enrollment, and those figures become the official enrollment that is used for both state reporting and financial aid eligibility.

Freshmen students will check in at the Mabee Center at聽9 a.m.聽and move into campus residences on聽Friday, Aug. 23.

The kickoff to orientation begins at the Performing Arts Center at 2 p.m. Friday, and matriculation begins on the steps of Johnson Residence Hall at聽2:45 p.m.聽During that ceremony, bagpipers and a faculty procession lead the incoming freshman class across campus. The new students meet President Kelly M. Thompson at Johnson Hall and sign their names in the C-SC鈥檚 Matriculation Book. Ronald Leftwich 鈥�64, chairman of the Board of Trustees, will present each new student with a penny to cast into the fountain on the quad with their wish for their college careers.

Students will take part on聽Saturday, Aug. 24聽in the Everybody Doing More (formerly known as Extreme Dome Makeover) service project. The 10^th聽annual event starts at聽10 a.m.聽when students march down the hill into Canton. Groups of approximately 15-20 students will work at 10 locations around Canton, while nearly a third of the students will be working along the riverfront removing sandbags. The project will end with lunch for the students at various locations.

Work will be done at four private homes as well.

Returning students will move in聽Sunday, Aug. 25.聽A 鈥淲elcome Back鈥� barbecue and concert will be at 5 p.m. in the courtyard of the Gladys Crown Student Center. Classes will begin聽Monday, Aug. 26.

The first wave of students will be in Canton on聽Friday, Aug. 9聽when the players on the women鈥檚 volleyball team and the men鈥檚 and women鈥檚 soccer teams check in at 10 a.m. at the J.E. & L.E. Mabee Recreation and Wellness Center. The players on the football team will check in at 1 p.m., and an official welcome for the students will be at 4:30 p.m. at the Alexander Campbell Auditorium in the Robert W. Brown Performing Arts Center.

International students will have an orientation day on聽Thursday, Aug. 22, and all other freshmen students will check in at the Mabee Center at 9 a.m. and move into campus residences on聽Friday, Aug. 23.

An evening of orientation events will end with an event featuring hypnotist William Mitchell 鈥�79 at 7:45 p.m. in the Performing Arts Center.

The 11^th聽annual event starts at 10 a.m. and will take place at about 20 locations around Canton and Lewis County. It will end with lunch for the groups of students at various locations. The women鈥檚 soccer team will play the first athletic game on campus this season at 6 p.m. at Ellison Poulton Stadium.

Returning students will move in on聽Sunday, Aug. 25.聽A 鈥淲elcome Back鈥� barbecue and concert will be at 5 p.m. in the courtyard of the Gladys Crown Student Center. Classes will begin on聽Monday, Aug. 26.

All students, faculty and staff will gather at the auditorium in the Performing Arts Center for the opening convocation, led by Thompson, at 11:30 a.m. on聽Thursday, Aug. 29.

The first men鈥檚 soccer game is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on聽Friday, Aug. 30, and the football team鈥檚 season opener is scheduled for 6 p.m. against Baker University on聽Saturday, Aug. 31.
