CANTON, Mo. — ’s 27th President, Dr. Douglas B. Palmer, planned to run a half-marathon in Indianapolis this fall, but the race has transitioned to a virtual event because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Palmer is using the opportunity to complete the race virtually and also help raise funds for student scholarships. He is showing his willingness to “go the extra mile” for C-SC students by running 14.1 miles, one mile longer than a typical half-marathon, in Canton on Saturday, Nov. 14.

Local businesses, alumni and friends of the College can join Palmer in supporting C-SC students by making a gift to the Student Scholarship Fund before he crosses the finish line. The first 100 donors who make a gift of $25 or more to support the Student Scholarship Fund will receive a commemorative T-shirt.

Palmer has completed three half-marathons, and he finished his first marathon in the fall of 2019. He started running about six years ago to stay in shape, physically and mentally.

CANTON, Mo. — The Bank of Monticello recently made a $2,500 donation to for its Student Scholarship Fund. One hundred percent of the gifts to the Student Scholarship Fund are used to provide scholarships and grants for C-SC students. More than 90 percent of C-SC students receive financial aid from the college.

CANTON, Mo. — People who eat lunch or dinner at Tiramisu on Thursday, March 19 also will help students.

March 19 is ’s third annual Day of Giving. A portion of the proceeds from that day at Tiramisu, an Italian restaurant in Quincy, Ill., will be donated to the Student Scholarship Fund. One hundred percent of all funds raised are given to students to meet the gap of funding their college education.

A generous donor already has provided a challenge match up to $25,000.

Tiramisu is open from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and from 4:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on March 19. Reservations are recommended but not required. To make a reservation, contact the restaurant at eat@tiramisuquincy.com or 217-222-9560.
